We just went through the time of year again that most of us face with dread in the spring,
Day Light Saving. We lose an hour in the blink of a flashing VCR clock. (Kids ask you parents about that joke.)
Officially, it’s “daylight saving time,” not “daylight savings time.” But don’t feel bad if you thought there was a final “s” on “saving”; far Mo people Google the incorrect phrase than the correct one.
For the most part, I think Daylight Saving Time is pretty stupid. We change the clocks in most states so that we can maximize our time of daylight during the months that matter and we are not on normal time. Or, you can consider it giving us time during the months that we are not freezing our butts off!
“Don’t forget it’s daylight savings time. You spring forward, then you fall back. It’s like Robert Downey Jr. getting out of bed.” – David Letterman
“Daylight Saving Time: Only the government would believe that you could cut a foot off the top of a blanket, sew it to the bottom, and have a longer blanket.” – Anonymous
When the time changes you are discombobulated for a week or so while you body adjust to the change, you sometimes miss church the morning because you forgot to change the clock. You spend weeks with clocks, watches and microwave ovens telling you different times, so you are never quite sure what time it is, causing the little bit of panic, that you might be late for something.
It is all really stressful and kind of stupid and for the most part I am not a fan. Just make it easy on everyone the government should set the time and forget it. To steal a line from the Ronco Rotisserie machine – “SET IT, AND FORGET IT!” (Ask your parents again, and while you are talking to them ask them about “Mr. Microphone”)
BUT…………. as a photographer…. I LOVE IT!
I get extra time EVERY night (when the weather cooperates) to take awesome pictures like the ones below! My clients are able to make a sunset shoot because they can come home after work, freshen up, change clothes, grab a bite to east still make it to the location to get some quality time taking Mo Awesome pictures.
I love taking photos during the golden hour, the light is incredible! Soft with amazing tones against skin. The tone it creates just can’t be duplicated easily. I was able to shoot with April G for about 50 minutes Thursday night and the pictures we captured are AWESOME. They are Mo Awesome!
Day Light Saving- most people tolerate it, but I believe that most photographers have to love it. Once they make the adjustment like everyone else, of course.
I am looking forward to the spring season of taking some great photos with terrific people. Be sure to book your session today.
