I can recall her first phone call to me…
*Mo’s Phone rings with a killer ring tone..(I roll like that)*
Alee: “Is this Mo?”
Mo: “Yes! What can I do for you?”
Alee: “My name is Alee, and you ARE going to take my Senior Photos.”
*Continued conversation to get it all set..*
I loved her first statement to me on the phone. “You ARE going to take my Senior Photos.” Alee is an amazing girl that knows what she wants! She had an idea from the very first phone call of what she wanted for her final product. I love that! I was so fortunate to work with Alee for her Senior Portraits.
Alee is also a great example of my process successfully achieving INCREDIBLE images.
I meet with Alee and her parents in August of this year and discussed her plans for her Senior Portraits. My process for creating incredible images is a practice session, and after some coaching homework and a lot of practice, the full photo session.
The practice shoot is incredibly important. Here is what the practice shoot will do for us:
1. Let’s me and the subject get to know each other and how we can work together for the best result.
2. It helps the subject understand what makes a picture a photograph.
3. Let’s me see how the subject will do in front of the camera.
4. Allows me to teach the subject how to be in front of the camera.
Item 3 and 4 are the most important aspects. When I am done with the practice shoot, I will give the subject homework to complete before our full session. It will include You Tube videos to watch and a gallery to scroll through to see a real model at work. Then you need to practice. Practice and practice. The Mo you practice what you learn the better the photographs will be during the full session.
There is NOT an additional fee for the practice session when you purchase the full session.
After our phone call, I meet with Alee and her parents at their house on a hot August day. We agreed that we work together for Alee’s senior portraits, so me and Alee’s mom headed out to a local park for a practice session.
It was HOT! I mean super HOT! We were still able to shoot, but by the end of our 35 minute session we were spent. When we started the session, Alee was like everyone else I work with, not sure what to do, uncomfortable, and uneasy. This is par for the course until we find a groove and the subject gets comfortable.
Alee is a great example of how the practice sessions that I complete is a differentiator for me versus my competitors. She started slow, but with some coaching and a few stupid jokes from me, she settled into a rhythm. Here are a few shots from our practice session.
Once we were done with the practice session, I knew the areas she needed to practice to be ready for her full session. Just like every person I work with, I gave her some homework.
Yes, homework? The homework I give to clients is pretty straight forward. It is a collection of You Tube videos and gallery links to learn how to be in front of the camera. Everyone’s assignments are different based on what we discover in the practice session. Some people don’t know what to do with their hands, some people don’t know how to convey emotion or confidence, and some people are just unsure of general stances.
The assignments I provide will take good photographs to STUNNING photographs. The Mo you practice, the better the end product will be.
Alee is the perfect example of my process at work. Alee was great during our practice, but she was UNBELIEVABLE during our full session. She KILLED IT! We shot for two hours and she got better and better as the session progressed.
The biggest advantage of my process is that during the full session is that Alee knew what to expect, knew what she wanted, knew what poses and looks were best for her and we spent the entire two hours creating AMAZING photographs. The Mo a client prepares, the better the images.
My process works. My coaching works. Want proof?
I rest my case. The evidence is clear.
Alee KILLED IT!
